Toastmasters run contests to bring out the best in speakers. Why is it that contests bring out the best? Perhaps it is head to head with other speakers, perhaps it being judge by a panel of judges, or perhaps it the large audience with visitors from other clubs. What ever the reason there is no doubt that competitions works.
This year Terrace@12 had two contestants:
- Chris Ashley
- Richard Bourne
Each speaker gives a 5-7 minute speech, followed by a minutes silence for the judges to deliberate their scores.
When the announcement came, the prize of 1st place went to Richard who will go onto represent Terrace@12 at the Area level contest.
