“Terrace@12 Toastmasters started the year with a bubble of enthusiasm and humour today. Peter chaired the session well, expertly weaving the benefits of Toastmasters to our guests and newest members while chairing the meeting.

Toastmaster of the Day went to Brad for a superb Icebreaker. Brad had us laughing within moments of standing up, and kept us going throughout his speech. Brad surprised us all revealing that not only does he have a great sense of humour and a love of rugby, but that he is also an avid Shortland Street and Coronation Street fan.

Brad set the scene for a humorous and entertaining meeting with more laughter heard today than at many humorous speech contests! We look forward to hearing more from Brad in the near future.

Richard, our second speaker, told us about the joy and disappointment of his first home brewing experience with winemaking. It was an interesting and, in parts, intriguing tale even when we found out that it was unsuccessful. It’s a pity that he only tried once though, because as John his evaluator commented, if he’d try a few more times he may one day add winemaker to his long list of accomplishments to date. Descriptive language was the main objective of his speech and he delivered in bucket loads.

Lastly, Sue got us all thinking about our resolutions, plans and goals for 2019 during our Table Topics session, and we heard a plethora of wonderous stories from our members of possible futures packed with meaningful take home messages for us all.
Happy New Year T@12! ” — Zaine Mitchell (Terrace@12 President)
