Thomas takes the Toastmaster of the day award for his speech Welcome to Parkrun. Thomas was completing speech Number 3 from Toastmaster’s Competent Communicator manual. Its objective is to ‘get to the point’.
Thomas structured his speech around what, why and how. He told us, Parkrun is a globally accessible free weekly 5km running event. It enables people to participate in competitive fitness. All events are well led and provide community and continuity for participants, www.parkrun.com.
I had no idea what Parkrun was so to me Thomas certainly met his objective in getting his message across to us today. Welcome to Parkrun was delivered with all the enthusiasm, conviction and humorous anecdotes that your would expect to hear from an active Parkrun participant. I’m in.
