Kia ora fellow T@12ers,
At the meeting today, Richard talked about the breaks that he experienced while 11, 13 & 16 years old; his left wrist, his right wrist and both his legs. Ouch! Ruth evaluated Richard superbly with great commendations and thoughtful recommendations. Co-Chairs Marian and Marianna set our theme of tolerance. Our Grammarian John’s word of the day was audacious. Marian multi-roled as Table Topics Master with great wit and humour. Table Topics speakers Peter & Rachel told short anecdotes of tolerances they’d experienced, and Dariusz, our guest, used the metaphor of swimming to describe his experience of public speaking while introducing himself to us. He treaded water very well!
Pauline Chaired the Committee Handover ceremony splendidly. She thanked the Outgoing Committee for our service. As Outgoing President, I reported on our achievements over the year. There were many! 😊 Pauline then introduced the Incoming Committee. As Incoming President Brad inspired us to look forward with confidence.
Rachel kept us to time. John reported on the word of the day, remarked on outstanding word use and asked reflective questions to test our listening skills. And, Hazel summed up the meeting in her unique warm and thoughtful way.
We have confirmed the date for our Table Topics contest on 31 July, 12-1pm, at the club. We will be advertising it at the club meetings and emailing to determine contestants and roles.
On behalf of the Outgoing Committee we wish President Brad, the new Committee, and the Club all the best in the new year!
T@12 President (for four more days 🙂)
