Congratulations to Toastmaster of the day Hana who gave her second speech from the competent communicator manual today about personal security and the strength of passwords.

Hana involved us all straight off by asking questions as to which of two examples of password we thought would be the most secure? Surprise.  We got it wrong.

The obvious one with symbols and numbers was not the correct answer and we have now learned that a simple string of say four random words is much better and would take a machine much, much, much longer to work out. How long exactly I have forgotten but it could be days, months or years.

Here’s the thing. You lean something every time you come to toastmasters and that is what happened to me today.

I’m in the process of changing my passwords now.
